UNTIL DAWN Coming Soon

“GORGEOUS”

… With performances from a Hollywood cast including Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Nashville), the palyer’s actions alone will decide who survives Until Dawn. In an unpredictable and dynamically adaptive story, crafted in consultation with Until Dawn scriptwriters and indie horror authors Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, eight friends come together at a remote mountain getaway and embark upon a night of unexpected terror. Through the course of the night, anyone can live, anyone can die, and things aren’t always what they seem. Twists and turns will keep players guessing right to the end as we play each of the friends. The decisions the player makes on their behalf will determine who survives Until Dawn.

Be Very Afraid of Until Dawn

“We re-designed, re-built and re-wrote the game so now you have a more mature, darker and fundamentally more terrifying experience on PS4.”  Stripping the game of its original assets and starting from scratch means a more dedicated approach than trying to port all the bits and pieces from the PS3 to PS4.

That change includes a whole new script for Until Dawn.  Supermassive brought on “horror auteurs Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick (Stake Land, Habit, The Last Winter) who’ve been bringing great independent horror movies to the big and small screen for decades” to give the game a script with a cinematic feel.  Most of their IMDB pages are made up of acting or sound development credits, but I wouldn’t discount the quality of their work from what I’ve seen of the game.

Until Dawn’s narrative is a horror aficionado’s dream.  It’s trope-filled from the moment Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere belts a concerned, “Hello?” down a darkened empty hallway.”

FANGORIA Reports TALES at Stanley “Captivating, Shocking”

Fangoria checked out the latest TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE, which just premiered live at the 2015 Stanley Film Fest. Stanley Edition: Parlor Tricks included “Cold Reading” by Glenn McQuaid and April Snellings, and “No Signal” by Fessenden. Performing live in front of an audience at the eerie Stanley, the radio-style plays included acting from Barbara Crampton, Leon Vitali, Martha Harmon Pardee, Clay Macleod Chapman, Roxanne Benjamin and Shock Till You Drop Managing Editor Sam Zimmerman.

As Ken W. Hanley wrote for Fangoria:

As an entire experience, TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE LIVE definitely lived up to the hype, providing a one-of-a-kind stage performance that was as gripping as it was disturbing. By relying on the audience to use their imagination to fill in the visual gaps, the show executed the audio and vocal elements expertly, and the writing went to unexpected places in order to frighten and entertain. And from the incredible crowd response, there seemed to be more than a few TALES converts, and even more crossing their shivering fingers for more live TALES at Stanley in the future.

For those who were unable to attend, fret not; the live Stanley performance will be available in the third season of TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE later this year, and you can catch up with previous episodes at their official site here.

Tales in Estes Park “truly memorable”

20150502_011344_talesfrompalesff2015

At the Historic Park Theatre in downtown Estes Park amid gloomy rainy weather, “Tale from Beyond the Pale: Parlor Tricks” was presented early Friday evening.

This audio drama in two parts complete with foleys performing manual sounds to combine with electronic music and effects, was an inventive journey back to the days of radio plays. The first part, “Cold Reading” was set in 1925 and the conclusion, “No Signal,” nearly 100 years later (present day). Snappy dialogue, a chilling premise, and talented actors led by Larry Fessenden of Glass Eye Pix made for a truly memorable experience.

While the audience was invited to sit back and close their eyes to experience the audio play, it was more interesting to watch the foleys perform with various ingredients and props. Noises created by watermelon flesh, cabbage heads, and inflated balloons were extremely effective.

TALES enthusiast: You Must See It! You Must!

When asked why he does movies, radio plays, puppet shows, and stop motion animated films with titles like SANTA CLAWS, Fessenden had a simple (and sincere) reply; “Because I am an entertainer…I have to.” Much respect to this amazing talent.

It should also be noted that Glenn McQuaid is quite a generous (and talented) individual too! He brings his special love of paperback and vintage horror fiction to new life by way of these lovely radio plays.

I give this event and these two gentleman my highest recommendation. In fact, thank God that they do the things they do. I swear, it makes the world, or at least the horror world, a better place. This piece doesn’t begin to touch the brilliance and liveliness that is “Tales From Beyond the Pale” and the performers who are behind it. Look it up! You must see it! You must!

Shock Exclusive: Barbara Crampton & Leon Vitali Lead Stanley’s Tales From Beyond the Pale Live

From Samuel Zimmerman at ShockTillYouDrop.com:

A budding tradition and must-see at the annual Stanley Film Festival in Estes Park, CO is Tales From Beyond the Pale Live, an in-flesh, festival-tailored iteration of the Larry Fessenden & Glenn McQuaid-produced horror audio dramas. One of the festival’s more experiential events, Tales From Beyond the Pale Live: The Stanley Edition is written exclusively for the Stanley and features performers in person, as well as the magic of live foley, sound and music. It’s a treat that both reveals the form and yet draws you in even further.

At the 2015 Stanley Film Festival, taking place April 30-May 3 at the Stanley Hotel, Tales From Beyond the Pale Live is entitled The Stanley Edition: Parlor Tricks. Taking place Friday, May 1st at 7 p.m. sharp at The Historic Park Theatre, Parlor Tricks is comprised of two tales: Cold Reading, written by Glenn McQuaid & newcomer to Tales, April Snellings (writer and editor at Rue Morgue Magazine and co-editor of the book Horror Movie Heroes); and No Signal by Larry Fessenden.

The show will feature the voice talents of Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, We Are Still Here) and Leon Vitali (Barry Lyndon, Terror of Frankenstein) as well as Larry Fessenden (We Are Still Here, Body, Habit). The rest of the cast will be filled by very special guests.

Oscilloscope Acquires ‘Body’!

Bloody Disgusting just got the scoop that Oscilloscope acquired the US rights to Body, starring Helen Rogers (V/H/S), Alexandra Turshen (The Maladjusted) and Lauren Molina (Martha Marcy May Marlene), featuring Fessenden. Body is directed by Robert Olsen and Dan Berk, who also wrote and produced.

From the BD News Piece:

We had two positive reviews out of Slamdance, with Patrick Cooper calling it “a morbidly satisfying thriller” and Jess Hicks stating that it “isn’t your normal girl’s night out“.

Body is the story of three girls that break into a mansion and inadvertently kill the groundskeeper. They slowly self-destruct as they decide what to do with the dead body in the living room.”
