For one night only, the acclaimed audio series Tales from Beyond the Pale, created, curated, and hosted by Glass Eye Pix’s Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid, will take over the Walter Reade Theater with two brand-new audio dramas—“Who Killed Johnny Bernard?” by Fessenden and “Game Night,” by McQuaid—written especially for the occasion. On-stage participants include performers James Le Gros (Drugstore Cowboy, Phantasm II, The Last Winter), Noah Le Gros, John Speredakos (The Mind’s Eye, I Sell the Dead, Stray Bullets), Larry Fessenden (You’re Next, We Are Still Here, Habit), Lauren Ashley Carter (Darling, Jug Face, The Woman), and Matthew Stephen Huffman (Caper, The Stranger, The Crush); Foley artists Chris Skotchdopole and Tessa Price; and musician Jack Fessenden. This award-winning series, established with the goal of making audio drama a vital, contemporary medium, presents twisted stories that will chill and delight fans of the macabre and promises a night as fun to watch as it is to listen to.

On this week’s New Flesh, Brett Arnold sits down with legendary horror filmmakers Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid (I SELL THE DEAD, V/H/S)! Joe is nowhere to be found.

After confirming once and for all how to pronounce Larry’s last name, Larry and Glenn detail their audio drama series “Tales From Beyond the Pale,” which is now available on iTunes and their website, and discuss the allure of making strictly audio rather than a typical feature.

After promoting their upcoming live show (October 20th at Lincoln Center in NYC!), Larry explains just how close he came to remaking THE ORPHANGE with Guillermo Del Toro and Kate Winslet, and ultimately get into a discussion on what’s wrong with the mainstreaming of the horror genre.

In addition to writing and directing numerous films (NO TELLING, HABIT, WENDIGO, THE LAST WINTER, BENEATH), you may recognize Larry from his roles in countless horror films, including HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, YOU’RE NEXT, STAKELAND, WE ARE STILL HERE, THE BATTERY, and many more.

We’re excited to announce that GEP pal Glenn McQuaid (aka Witchboard) will be DJing the inaugural Brooklyn Horror Film Festival’s Opening Night Party on Oct 14!  He’ll be dusting off his old goth record collection as well as spinning tracks from his new Witchboard EP, YES, I DRINK BLOOD, which comes out on vinyl from Holy Mountain Records before Halloween.

Featuring an eye-popping performance by GEP pal John Speredakos as the twisted Doctor Slovak! Also featured chewing scenery and blowing gaskets are Fessenden, Jeremy Gardner, Lauren Ashley Carter and Graham Skipper, among others!

Zack Connors and Rachel Meadows were born with incredible psychokinetic capabilities. GEP pal Kelly Reichardt and cast will host the screening of her latest film at the New York Film Festival tonight at 9:00 PM. Film will also play on Wednesday night and opens in theaters on October 14th through IFC.
