Jake Weber looks back on Fessenden’s WENDIGO: “Well, the experience with this one is similar to the experience that I had on a film called Wendigo. Which is a Larry Fessenden movie, which is one of my favorite films I’ve ever done. A very small budget horror film that was shot many, many moons ago. But for your audience, if they don’t know, it’s really worth checking out. It stars Patricia Clarkson and then me and this kid and then a couple of other ancillary characters. But again, a very small crew, low budget, and small cast. The movie turned out terrifically, and so that was a similar experience.”

Thanks to the kind folks over at horror streaming service Shudder, I Know That Face co-host Stephen Porzio got to chat with some filmmakers with new projects on the platform. First to be interviewed was indie legend writer-director Larry Fessenden. Known for films like Wendigo and The Last Winter, his latest Depraved is a new take on Frankenstein set in modern day New York. He discusses it, as well as his side-career as a producer and mentor to filmmakers like Kelly Reichardt and Ti West and as a character actor who has worked with Martin Scorsese, Jim Jarmusch and Neil Jordan.

A feature-length horror anthology, weaving together nine tales of terror, following isolated citizens in cities around the world as they confront their darkest fears in an attempt to survive an increasingly deadly pandemic.

All the films were shot entirely at the height of the Covid-19 Lockdown by the following directors: Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, Habit, Depraved), Bobby Roe (The Houses October Built 1&2), Andrew Kasch (Tales Of Halloween), Dennie Gordon (Jack Ryan, Outer Range, Legion, Hunters), Zach Passero (Wicked Lake), Christian Pasquariello (Alien Invasion: S.U.M. 1), Alexandra Neary (The Innocent), Alix Austin and Keir Siewert (Retch), and Kyle I. Kelley and Adam Brown (The Music Lesson).
