An allegorical tale of a couple who attempt to renew their dying relationship by plugging directly into recordings of their memories. When their illusion breaks, they must face the barren reality of the present.

Composed of over seven thousand frames of pen and charcoal meticulously drawn over the course of almost two years.

PAST INSIDE THE PRESENT features indie director Miles Joris–Peyrafitte, known for As You Are (2016), Dreamland (2019) and Tank Girl.

James Siewert is an artist an animator who joined the glass Eye Pix family after attending Bard College in professor Kelly Reichardt’s film class. He directed several music videos for GEP and continues to pursue that art form with notable work such as “Things Like This (A Little Bit Deeper).” He has also served as director of photography on several GEP features and shorts including LIKE ME, THE RANGER, DEPRAVED (with Chris Skotchdopole), SIZE UP and THE EGG AND THE HATCHET.

Siewert is also responsible for visual effects in DEPRAVED, LIKE ME, STRAY BULLETS and FOXHOLE; he created the hand-constructed camera rigs seen in such films as DEPRAVED, LIKE ME and THE RANGER and he crafted the animations that constituted the inner workings of the brain in Fessenden’s DEPRAVED.
