The director of STRAY BULLETS is featured in the art mag Chronogram. Story is not quite accurate (Stray Bullets is not a sequel to Jack’s early work), but the Teen program that played his short films in prior years is a vital part of the festival, celebrating new voices in film.

An excerpt:
“When the seventeenth annual Woodstock Film Festival returns the weekend of October 13-16, 2016, a feature film that was originally premiered as a short in the 2015 Teen Film Program will be included in the schedule. Expanded into a feature narrative just this year, Stray Bullets pits slacker teens against career criminals, starring local youth actor Asa Ryder Spurlock, in the film written and directed by Jack Fessenden.
As part of its mission as an educational not-for-profit arts organization, the Woodstock Film Festival presents an annual Youth Films event to encourage young filmmakers and showcase some of the best young talent from the local region and around the world. This year’s lineup includes nine shorts which tackle topics like bullying, race, and gender, through traditional and experimental film techniques. And as with Fessenden’s film, it can spur more opportunities in filmmaking.”
meteoritic has the skinny on Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, out on Thursday, 13 October!
“Until Dawn: Rush of Blood may be a brief and silly spin-off, something far removed from 2015’s fantastic adventure game, but it’s the most fun I’ve had with a virtual reality game to date, and it’s just a brilliantly entertaining pop horror experience with enjoyable shooty-bang-bang combat.”

—Fessenden to participate in Mark Miller’s panel “Reinventing Horror” Sunday at 2:30—

On this week’s New Flesh, Brett Arnold sits down with legendary horror filmmakers Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid (I SELL THE DEAD, V/H/S)! Joe is nowhere to be found.
After confirming once and for all how to pronounce Larry’s last name, Larry and Glenn detail their audio drama series “Tales From Beyond the Pale,” which is now available on iTunes and their website, and discuss the allure of making strictly audio rather than a typical feature.
After promoting their upcoming live show (October 20th at Lincoln Center in NYC!), Larry explains just how close he came to remaking THE ORPHANGE with Guillermo Del Toro and Kate Winslet, and ultimately get into a discussion on what’s wrong with the mainstreaming of the horror genre.
In addition to writing and directing numerous films (NO TELLING, HABIT, WENDIGO, THE LAST WINTER, BENEATH), you may recognize Larry from his roles in countless horror films, including HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, YOU’RE NEXT, STAKELAND, WE ARE STILL HERE, THE BATTERY, and many more.
Tickets for Tales From Beyond the Pale Live go on sale this Thursday.
Also available on iTunes!
We’re excited to announce that GEP pal Glenn McQuaid (aka Witchboard) will be DJing the inaugural Brooklyn Horror Film Festival’s Opening Night Party on Oct 14! He’ll be dusting off his old goth record collection as well as spinning tracks from his new Witchboard EP, YES, I DRINK BLOOD, which comes out on vinyl from Holy Mountain Records before Halloween.
Featuring an eye-popping performance by GEP pal John Speredakos as the twisted Doctor Slovak! Also featured chewing scenery and blowing gaskets are Fessenden, Jeremy Gardner, Lauren Ashley Carter and Graham Skipper, among others!
Zack Connors and Rachel Meadows were born with incredible psychokinetic capabilities. When word of their supernatural talents gets out, they find themselves the prisoners of Michael Slovak, a deranged doctor intent on harvesting their powers. After a daring escape, they are free from his sinister institution, but the corrupt doctor will stop at nothing to track them down so that he may continue to siphon their gifts for his own use. The Mind’s Eye is “a mind-bogglingly gory film that has heart, soul, and suspense, but is above all, unbelievably fun to watch.” (Modern Horrors)
