Directed by Ti West

Starring: Jocelin Donahue, Tom Noonan, Mary Woronov,
Greta Gerwig, AJ Bowen, Dee Wallace.

“Ti West is an admirer of classic horror films and understands that if there’s
anything scarier than a haunted house, it’s a possibly haunted house.”
– Roger Ebert

“West playfully subverts the horror film genre by insidiously setting up the mood
and letting it eerily and slowly play out before slamming home with a fiendish finale.”
– Paper Magazine

“Establishing a rigorously naturalistic mood, which director Ti West
(a thinking mans horror director) details with the precision and
care of the early films of Roman Polanski.”

SVA 2020 Alumni Scholarship Award Winner: GEP intern Matthew Yturralde

GEP would like to congratulate Glass Eye intern Matthew Yturralde on winning the SVA 2020 Alumni Scholarship Award! Yturralde shares a few words about his horror short DEVIL FISH.

From the School Of Visual Arts: Over the next few weeks, SVA will be highlighting some of the many outstanding projects from the 2020 Alumni Scholarship Award winners. Today’s featured thesis project is by BFA Film student Matthew Yturralde, also a veteran, a member of SVA’s Veterans Coalition Of Arts and co-founder of the SVA Horror Society. Yturralde’s short film, Devil Fish, is about a man named Topher, who takes on the job of pet-sitting for a friend—but there’s more to this tale than meets the eye.

GEP Quaranstream: THE COMEDY available on iTunes

Directed by Rick Alverson

Starring: Tim Heidecker, James Murphy
and Eric Wareheim.

Its audience may be self-selective in the extreme, but few films
have better articulated the limits of irony as a force field against the world.
– A.V. CLUB

It’s a meaty film, filled with ideas unobscured by any generic narrative string,
a move that shows not only the confidence of the director but his respect of the audience.
This is one that’ll have people talking.
– INDIEWIRE

Alverson just wants people to care, even if that subsequent emotion
takes on the form of hate, and as such, “The Comedy” has my begrudging respect.

AS THE GLOBE WARMS: Today LIVE 3:00 PM EST and continues through April 30!

Check out GEP pal Heather Woodbury’s (HOLLOW VENUS, HABIT) EPIC series
AS THE GLOBE WARMS

”I am a super fan of writer performer Heather Woodbury.
Her new serial [As the Globe Warms] is a podcast and all Earthdayish”
– Ira Glass
You are invited to As The Globe Warms Panel Palooza, a FREE forum which will raise awareness of (and donations for) COVID relief and Extinction Rebellion in the US and UK! With activist culture-makers from Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and London as your guides, join us for a one-of-a-kind exploration of Heather Woodbury’s living novel AS THE GLOBE WARMS.

*A kick-ass cackle of a tale of intersecting American lives AND a robust, life-affirming hearing & discussion.*

Launching on EARTH DAY, April 22, Heather’s Globe Panel is broken into 12 propulsive installments, each focusing on a different chapter every day until April 30. Take an indoor road trip with us through a vivid ‘American tapestry’ of intersecting lives – as described by Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Debra Granik.

GLOBE’S warm, comic, mournful, wild and anarchic story of everyday people struggling to survive in today’s America on a planet veering toward a social and ecological tipping point, will launch us into an open dialogue about this critical turning point in our lives. Help us imagine what regenerating the life-support system of our entire planet could look and feel like!
