ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Bliss trailer from the upcoming drama movie by writer and director Joe Maggio. The film is set to premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival on Friday, January 19 at at 4:15 p.m. MST at the Yarrow in Park City, UT followed by a second in-person screening on Thursday, January 25 at 12 p.m. MST. It can also be viewed online/digitally on the Slamdance Channel from January 22-28.
“Virgil Bliss has been a fugitive for twenty years,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “His decision to return to the scene of his original crime and finally make amends is complicated by the sudden death of his girlfriend and fellow Oxy addict, Amy, and the unexpected arrival of Amy’s holy roller sister who catches Virgil up in a web of lies and deceit. At once a dark fable of persistence, perseverance, and the transformative power of love, but also a searing indictment of the American carceral system and our ongoing opioid epidemic.”
Bliss was co-written and directed by Joe Maggio. It was also co-written by stars Clint Jordan and Faryl Amadeus and produced by Larry Fessenden. It stars Clint Jordan, Faryl Amadeus, Juan Fernandez, and David Yow.
Go behind the scenes of the making of UNTIL DAWN in this extensive article by Jack Yarwood at timeextension.com

“Think Scream versus I Know What You Did Last Summer”
… “To have a project that was just at the point of getting good shuttered and taken away from you was yeah, at the time, a little bit soul-destroying,” adds another source. “But I have massive respect for what Supermassive did with it. Supermassive Games’ version of Until Dawn was first announced at Gamescom 2012 and underwent several revisions of its own before eventually being released in 2015 as a title for the PS4. For instance, the game dropped the PlayStation Move requirement as it was no longer deemed a necessary component, the American horror writers Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick joined the project to write the script, and a decision was also made to move development over to Guerrilla Games’ Decima engine, which had originally been used to develop 2013’s Killzone: Shadow Fall…
Larry Fessenden (Lt Col. Clive Hockstatter in Brooklyn 45)

I really enjoyed Ted Geogahn’s World War II chamber piece because its ensemble of characters pulled the tale in all sorts of fascinating directions, but its catalyst is undoubtedly Lt. Col. Clive Hockstatter played by genre stalwart Larry Fessenden.
Fessenden’s manic, heartbroken turn as a grieving army man sets the supernatural events of Brooklyn 45 in motion, and he continues to play a disturbing part of proceedings throughout.
