The Film Music Institute interviews Jeff Grace

GEP pal Jeff Grace sits with Daniel Schweiger from The Film Music Institute to chat
about the music of the Netflix series SWEET TOOTH, directed by Jim Mickle.

From FMI: With his talent for often evoking homespun, rustic darkness from the terrifyingly intimate residences of “The House of the Devil” to “The Innkeepers,” the twisted families of “Cold in July” and “We Are What We Are,” an unforgiving western landscape in “Meek’s Cutoff” and the beast-prowling environs of “The Roost” and “The Last Winter,” composer Jeff Grace has been building an especially chilling and unforgiving repertoire. Beginning his career assisting Howard Shore on his “Rings” trilogy and “Gangs of New York,” the NYC-based Grace would find a gifted filmmaker to further lead him into the darkness with Jim Mickle. First teaming for the vampire apocalypse of 2010’s “Stake Land,” Grace’s evocative, western-tinged score evoked both a future’s impossible horror as well as the emotional bond between master killer and a newfound son of sorts.

I SELL THE DEAD Coming To Vinyl!

Glass Eye Pix is teaming up with Deep Focus Records again to bring I SELL THE DEAD to vinyl!

Check out the release announcement from DeepFocusRecords.com:

We’re super excited to announce a second collaboration with Glass Eye Pix! Deep Focus Records will be releasing a vinyl pressing for Jeff Grace’s fantastic score to I Sell The Dead, starring Dominic Monaghan, Ron Perlman, Larry Fessenden and Angus Scrimm.

We’re also delighted and honored that Angus Scrimm will be contributing exclusive liner notes for the vinyl release. As many fans know, Angus was a Grammy Award-winning author of liner notes well before he became an icon of horror. Under the pen name of Rory Guy, Angus wrote for Capitol Records for decades, penning liner notes for the likes of The Beatles, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole.

Upon its release, I Sell The Dead (written and directed by Glenn McQuaid) received a warm reception from horror fans and critics alike. In fact, Jeff Grace’s score was also nominated for Best Score in the 2011 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.

“The film moves with a darting confidence and it literally soars via the evocative and aggressive score by Jeff Grace.” – Hammer to Nail

GEP’s first collaboration with Deep Focus Records, TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE on vinyl, is currently available at DeepFocusRecords.com.

Glass Eye Pal Jeff Grace called out on Badass Digest

From BadassDigest.com:

“Jeff Grace got his start providing various music services for Howard Shore including music preparation, producing, and editing. In 2005 his debut feature film score The Roost (2005) established an enduring relationship with indie-darling director Ti West which continues to this day. It’s a score of uncompromising creativity harnessing the unique sound qualities of chamber strings and a superlative example of “less-is-more” precision scoring…”
